Student Symposiums


INGENIOUS (Clever original and Inventive)

INGENIOUS is a National Level Design Contest conducted by the Department every year. A total of 1047 students participated in the Ingenious'14. This event is mainly aimed at showcasing and sharing the young talent. Students from various institutes from different part of the country including from Mumbai and Kerala attended last year’s event. Every year this programme is conducted for students of Mechanical Department.

KRIDA YANTHRIK

Krida Yanthrik is a National-level intercollegiate techno-sport fest conducted by the Society of Mechanical Engineers at Rajalakshmi Engineering College yearly once.The symposium’s focus was on learning engineering through sports, and so, several sports based events were organized in both technical and non-technical domains, along with numerous surprise events. Generally, around more than 500 students from 40+ colleges in and around Chennai participate in the symposium. The inauguration ceremony took place with dignitaries from expert from industry and sports field.

CONFERENCES

Conference gives the opportunity to learn and share the latest research findings by the researchers. We conduct paper presentation by the academia every year as part of Ingenious. Also, the department conducted international conferences on Recent Advances in Mechanical Engineering, Optimization techniques in Engineering. Department is having a policy of organizing every biennia once National conference and four years once international conference.

SERIA'13

An International conference on Surface Engineering for Research and Industrial Applications was conducted in association with International Union for Surface Finishing (IUSF) & Singapore Surface Engineering Association (SSEA). Delegates from various countries presented their scientific findings in the conference during 2013.

NCRAC, Oct 2015

The 4th National Conference on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (NCRAC) was conducted in our Rajalakshmi Engineering College. The conference offers an excellent opportunity to exchange information amongst researchers working in academic institutions, R & D organizations to present and publish research findings and interact with experts. The fourth biennial conference is jointly organized by Mechanical Engineering Department, Rajalakshmi Engineering College and IIT Madras. The essence of the program is the key delivery lectures by various significant dignitaries with which each and every participant would understand the vision with clarity.

RAMS, April 2017

A National Conference on Recent Advances in Mechanical Science (RAMS 2017) was conducted in our Rajalakshmi Engineering College. The conference aims to provide a platform to discuss the latest trends and ongoing research and share/disseminate the knowledge, thereby popularizing the subject amongst budding engineers and scientist. This conference was held during 28 & 29 April 2017

NCRAMS 19 & 21

A National Conference on Recent Advances in Mechanical Science usually conducted in our Rajalakshmi Engineering College two years once. The conference aims to provide a platform to discuss the latest trends and ongoing research and share/disseminate the knowledge, thereby popularizing the subject amongst budding engineers and scientist. NCRAMS 2019, 2021 wasconducted at. 15 & 16, Mar 2019 and17 &18 Dec 2021 respectively

GM-AAPPES:2018

GREEN MANUFACTURING: ANALYTICS, AUTOMATION, PROCESSES, PRODUCTS, ENERGY & STRUCTURES' (GM: AAPPES’2018) 

GMAAPPES aims to bring researchers, academicians and practicing engineers to a common platform which provides an opening for researchers to exchange ideas in recent advances on various aspects in various fields of Mechanical, Mechatronics, Building sciences, Auto and Aero disciplines. This conference will provide a forum to the participants and delegates to discuss the latest developments and innovations in the field of Mechanical Sciences which will be more useful to enrich their knowledge.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES

FDPs are conducted every year for faculty in the Core subject specialization by sponsored with Anna University, AICTE and REC. Some of which the programs are sponsored by Anna University , AICTE and REC for the subjects of Thermodynamics, Engineering Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Robotics, Hydraulics & Pneumatics , Engineering Graphics and CNC Programming. During 2020-21 the AICTE-STTP on “composite materials: micro to nano – fabrication characterization and modeling including additive manufacturing” was conducted at four phases on online mode.

TRAINING PROGRAMS


PHA GET INDUCTION TRAINING

Induction training was conducted for the employees of PHA by jointly REC-PHA India Pvt Ltd for 90 employees in three phases.

PLACEMENT TRAINING

More training are given for the students based on latest technology core and software base. Since the students from the Department got placed in various core companies such as Ashok Leyland, L&T, KONE elevators, Schwing Stetter, Hyundai, Mahindra and Mahindra and also in IT companies such as TCS, Wipro, CTS and Infosys. More than 80% of students get placed in various companies every year.

INTERNSHIP TRAINNING

Students are permitted to take internship training from Industry and institute. This can be arranged by the Institute and students can get through college.

MSME TRAINING PROGRAMME

The Department of mechanical engineering conducts Skill Enhancement training programme for the workers (Women Employees) of MANDO Brakes, Irungattukottai, Chennai. This program aims at providing the fundamental skills of Mechanical engineering to the employees with other than mechanical specialization. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) provides the certificates for the workers after successful completion of the 2-year course.

SABBATICAL TRAINING

Faculty member from the department have undergone sabbatical training at TVS-Lucas to update and exposed to real time Industrial knowledge.
