Our student Jeya Bharathi G was sponsored to present a poster on “Carbon Sequestration through gas hydrates” at the YNU India-Japan symposium conducted at YOKOHAMA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY at Japan in 2019.
Our students Mujahid Ali and Varshini Ramesh underwent a 2-week internship at the Swinburn University, Melbourne, Australia and our student Adithya Jairam V underwent a 2-week internship at the Sarawak/ Swinburne University, Sarawak campus, Malaysia.
CHEMCON is the most premier chemical engineering event in India and offers the most attractive platform, ensuring four days of intensive interface among the National and International experts in Chemical Engineering and allied fields. These interactions will help the participants to constantly update and equip themselves so as to keep pace with the fast changing professional scenario. Students, condescending professors and industrial experts take part in the prestigious event.
Our students achieved a feat in the 72nd edition of Chemcon Conducted at IIT Delhi for having the highest number of student teams from a single college. Projects of our students Ahijit R and Vaibavi J were selected to be presented orally in the event. And project of Anush Venkataraman, Lokesh Babu, and Rishi Rajan were selected to presented as a poster.
SCHEMCON, Students' Chemical Engineering Congress, is an annual event organized by the Students' Chapter of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) under one of its Regional Centers. It provides a platform for the Chemical Engineering Students to interact, learn and gain exposure to the expanding arena of Chemical Engineering. The event brings together hundreds of students all over India and network them with key leaders both from industry and academia. Our students Anush Venkataraman, Lokesh Babu, and Rishi Rajan won the prestigious best oral presentation award amongst 200 participants across India in the event.
Yuva Sriram B along with his team mates won the “Best Innovation award” for the design of sensor for the visually impaired in 2019 held at IIT Madras

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IICHE) is the apex professional body of chemical engineering professionals in India. Student members pursuing under-graduate degrees in Chemical Engineering form Student Chapters, under the auspices of the respective Regional Centres. The Student Chapters arrange lectures, seminars, short courses, plant visits, etc., at regular intervals to better equip and empower the students when they come out of their academic precincts. Academic activities apart, Student Chapters organize cultural events and sports activities for their members.
Department of Chemical Engineering, Rajalakshmi Engineering College has formed the IICHE Student Chapter. The inauguration of IICHE Student Chapter was held on 6th September 2019 at Rajalakshmi Engineering College. Dr.Ragunathan Rengaswamy, Institute Char Professor, IIT Madras, Chief Guest of the function inaugurated the student chapter. Dr.N.Balasubramanian, VC-IICHE, Chennai , Professor at A.C.Tech and Mr.D.Gokul, Honorary Secretary-IICHE Chennai, Scientist ISRO were the guests of Honour.
