Department in collaboration with Wipro GE established Wipro GE-REC Health care Institute in our campus. The main focus of this lab is to train students in Medical Equipments. This lab provides opportunities for the students in hands on training on various medical equipments. It also provides internship for the students. Wipro GE is providing training with the following equipments available in the department.
In addition to the equipments students are taken to Wipro GE health care research centre at Bengaluru for training in CT and MRI machines.
Outcome:
Three student batches completed their training in house and at GE Bangalore research center. Faculty members are also benefitted with these training sessions.
TheMemorandum of Understanding is entered on Wednesday, 16 April 2014 between Rajalakshmi Institutions consisting of Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC), Thandalam, Chennai 602105 and Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kuthambakkam Post, Chennai 602107 with M/s Faber Sindoori Management Services Private Limited, an institution of Apollo Hospitals Group Head Office Door No. 25 & 26, Prince Towers, 7th Floor, College Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai-600006. The purpose of the collaboration is to ensure co-operation between Rajalakshmi Institutions and Faber Sindoori Management Services (FSMS) Private Limited in Biomedical Engineering for student’sinternship, faculty training and also collaborative research and consultancy by sharing the Knowledge and skills available in both organizations.
Outcome:
Students are allowed to undertake training in Apollo Hospitals every year for 15 days during their seventh semester
The Memorandum of Understanding is entered on Wednesday, 16 April 2014 between Rajalakshmi Institutions consisting of Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC), Thandalam, Chennai 602105 and Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kuthambakkam Post, Chennai 602107 with Aries Biomed Technology Private Limited. The purpose of the collaboration is to ensure co-operation between Rajalakshmi Institutions and Aries Biomed Technology Private Limited in offering training to faculty and students on ventilators, sensors, devices and supporting services like testing and calibration of medical equipment’s. This MoU will also lead to offering technical expert lectures from one side to the other, valuable inputs to the institution as a feedback from the industry sector in respect of latest technological development in the area of interaction and also in offering guidance for suitable placement for students.
Outcome:
Every year one batch of students is allowed to do their final year project in Aries Biomed with guidance from technical person from the company. Faculties are undertaking sabbatical training during their vacation to learn the latest development happening in Biomedical field.
The Memorandum of Understanding is entered on Wednesday, 17 November2016 between Rajalakshmi Institutions consisting of Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC), Thandalam, Chennai 602105 and Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kuthambakkam Post, Chennai 602107 with Voluntary Health Services(VHS). The purpose of the collaboration is to ensure co-operation between Rajalakshmi Institutions and VHS Voluntary Health Services to offer facilities for learning Biomedical Engineering Maintenance Services, Biomedical waste management, maintenance management information system etc. for the students of B.E/B.Tech (Biomedical Engineering/Biotechnology) and Masters in Medical Electronics and Biotechnology of Rajalakshmi Institutions.Pre-final year Bachelors and Masters Students of Biomedical Engineering students from Rajalakshmi Institutions will get an opportunity to do a two week Internship on the current trends in Biomedical Engineering at VHS, Taramani. Apart from providing training to students, VHS will utilise the services of the faculty and students at Rajalakshmi Institutions for creating a Medical Equipment database.

Students of Biomedical department had created a hospital information system for voluntary health services.
