Automotive Fuels and Lubricants Laboratory
The lab is equipped with all facilities to test fuel and lubricants as specified in the curriculum of Anna University. The following equipments are available:

Automotive Engine and Chassis Components Lab
In the automotive engine components lab, students study the various engine components. The automotive chassis lab is equipped with heavy duty and light duty vehicles .The following components and systems are available for study:

• Multi cylinder petrol and diesel engines
• MPFI engine
• Petrol and Diesel fuel systems
• Different types of front axle and rear axle

Two and Three Wheeler Lab
The laboratory has various two wheelers and three wheelers to conduct all the tests specified in the curriculum of Anna University. The equipments available are:

• Two wheeler chassis dynamometer
• Two wheeler engines with transmission system
• Three wheeler with engine, chassis, and transmission system
• Shock absorber test Apparatus
• Coil spring test Apparatus
• Two wheeler with electronic fuel injection and Open ECU

Auto Electrical Laboratory
The department has well equipped Automotive Electrical Laboratory to facilitate the students to test the various components of Automobiles.
Equipments available:

• Starter and generator test bench
• Automotive electrical wiring setup
• Battery charger and battery testing equipment
• Ignition system test bench
• Spark plug testing and cleaning device
• General electrical test equipments

Automotive Engine Testing Lab
The Department has well established engine testing laboratory to carry out various performance and emission tests on Automotive Engines. The equipments available are:

• Multi-cylinder CI and SI engine cut-section models
• Single-cylinder CI and SI engine cut-section models
• Two wheeler engine test rig
• Multi cylinder SI test rig with hydraulic dynamometer
• Multi cylinder CI test rig with eddy current dynamometer
• Piezoelectric pick up & crank angle encoder
• 5 Gas analyzer for exhaust gas analysis
• Diesel Smoke Meter

CAD Lab
CAD/CAM facility caters to the training of our students in the usage of latest CAD and CAM software. The lab uses modelling software like AUTOCAD, PRO-E, CATIA, ANSYS and CAM software like EDGECAM, ESPRIT, DENFORD, and CNC TUTOR. CNC Trainer lathe and CNC milling trainer are also available. The offline simulation software certification courses are being run for students in PRO-E package by the in-house faculty. Desktop computers 35 Nos. of the following configuration:

Vehicle Maintenance and Reconditioning Lab
The lab is equipped with the following equipments needed to study engine reconditioning and vehicle maintenance:

• Engine Analyzer
• Computerized Wheel Aligner
• Tyre remover

• Cylinder re-boring machine
• Valve grinding and lapping machines
• Spark plug cleaner and tester
• Cylinder compression pressure gauge

BOSCH LAB
A training lab for automotive testing is jointly set up in association with Bosch. Apart from the regular theory and practical sessions, our students gain exposure and hands-on with the recent technologies The BOSCH lab is facilitated with the following list of equipments

• FSA 740 Engine and Vehicle Analyzer
• Fuel Injection Pump Calibration
• ACS 650 – Air-Conditioning system
• Automotive Electrical test bench
• CRDi and MPFi Engine test rig

Research and Computing facilities
The department has a high end computing facility with 32 GB RAM for carrying out simulation related research projects by students and faculty members.
Fuel oxidation stability tester fully capable of testing automotive fuels according to international standards is available for R&D development in the area of alternative and biofuels

REC-BOSCH Joint Certification Centre
A training lab for automotive testing is jointly set up in association with Bosch. Apart from the regular theory and practical sessions, our students gain exposure and hands-on with the recent technologies like:

• Engine Diagnostic system
• Vehicle Diagnostic system
