Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC) celebrated its 16th Graduation Day on July 9, 2017.
Dr S.N. Murugesan, Principal of the college in his annual report said that a team of six students from the college participated in the “Smart India Hackathon 2017” under ISRO category of Digital India Initiative organized by AICTE this year and bagged the first prize among 209 teams winning a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh.
“In the Hack2Help Hackathon held in April this year, a team of third year IT students secured First Place for developing-Farmer Donation App. In the same event, another team from the same class bagged the third position for their-Smart Cap app,” he said.
Chief guests of the Graduation Day, Dr. M.S. Shunmugam, Professor Emeritus at IIT-Madras, Mr. K. Jayaramakrishnan, Consultant and former Vice-President, TCS, Mr. A. Satish Kumar, former Managing Director, Henkel India, Mr. Ramkumar Chandrasekaran, Head (Human Resources-Chennai Region), TCS and Dr. Mukesh Doble, Professor Emeritus at IIT-Madras delivered the graduation day address and gave away degrees to students.
A total of 1,291 students from the college graduated in 2016 qualified to get their degrees, and among them a total of 73 students secured ranks in the in Anna University examination in various branches.
The college is strongly focused on research with activities managed by Centre for Sponsored Research and Consultancy. There are several on-going projects worth about Rs. 4.5 Crore sponsored in the last couple of years funded by government agencies such as DST, DRDO, SERB, ICMR, AICTE and UGC.
